Happy Birthday Daddy – Love, Emmie & Paige

Today was Daddy’s birthday, he is 32, I think that is pretty old but I am not too sure! We started the day off by having some family cuddle time in bed with Mommy and Daddy. We gave Daddy his birthday card/gift first thing and he was all smiles. Then Mommy made us some banana pancakes, they were very yummy, I ate 4 pancakes!!! We went out for lunch to one of Daddy’s favorite restaurants, did some shopping and then went over to the Green’s house to watch some football…our usual Saturday party!

Daddy got an iPad for his birthday thanks to a combination of people who gave him birthday money, like Granny & Pop-Pop, Great Granny and Mommy but it wouldn’t have been possible without Gigi and Papa’s generosity, big thanks to everyone!!! Here I am at lunch playing with it while we wait for our food to arrive, you should see all the cool games daddy has on it just for me…

Wow, Mommy took this close-up of Paige today when we were out for lunch, look at those pretty eyes!

When we went shopping they had a market setup in the parking lot and someone had there very own alpaca’s there. I got to pet and feed them, they were super cute!

Now what else have been up to the past week or so. Let me think…last weekend Mommy and Daddy competed in some Dragonboat races with a team made up of people that work with daddy. Unfortunately, the weather was not very nice, it rained the whole time we were out there, 6 hours of non-stop rain. I didn’t mind though, I had fun playing in the rain and cheering the team on. Plus we brought a big tent to stay dry under, this is where Paige and her boyfriend Atley hung out!!!

Our weather has been quite warm here, in the mid to high 80’s but our evenings are starting to cool off just a bit. So the other night Daddy' made this nice fire and we roasted marshmallows…I think I have decided that I like them uncooked, they are just too gooey when you roast them, Mommy thinks I am crazy saying that!!!

We have also had the chance to see lots of Daddy this month, he is working on a rotation that doesn’t require long hours, it has been quite nice. Here are some pics of Paige and I sitting in her rocking chair and playing with Daddy!

We got some exciting news yesterday from my wonderful godparents Carrie and Brodie…they had their baby girl around 5:48 am. She was 8lbs 5 oz. and she is an adorable and healthy baby. They gave her a beautiful name, Sophia Lynn and when we spoke to them we could definitely tell they are quite smitten with her. When Mommy told me the news I told her that “Sophia is going to be my new best friend”! We can’t wait to meet her when we go to Ottawa in just over 2 weeks when we are back in Canada.

Well that is all for tonight, I am pooped…time to go to bed and dream about what tomorrow will bring. Just one more week till we make the road trek to Canada, we can’t wait to see everyone.

New and exciting times for the Hollinger Girls

We have been busy having fun and enjoying the beautiful weather down here in Tennessee. Baby Paige is getting bigger every day and we are having lots of fun playing together. A few times this week we have spent playing in our rec room downstairs with the toys we don’t see too often. One night daddy helped me build a fort, it is so cool, Mommy even let me eat my lunch in it the other day!

Mommy has been getting back into the swing of things after being away on vacation for 5 days! I kept begging her to take us to the park so finally on thursday we got to go and it was a beautiful day we had lots of fun! Here I am driving a fire truck at the park, so cool!!!

CIMG1721 Look at us big girls, sitting on a swing together…I like that Paige and I can sort of play with one another, the bigger she gets the better it gets! Mommy even tried to take a picture of all three of us, she made a good attempt…

CIMG1716Check out the cool pics mommy took of me on the slide, I think this is one of my favorite slides at the park. Look at my crazy hair, it is standing on end due to something mommy calls “static electricity”, sure!

This past Sunday was the start of the 2010-2011 college football season and along with that comes the football party’s. Mommy rummaged through our clothes to find something orange in colour for Paige and I to wear and we went over to the Green’s house to watch the Tennessee Vols first game, they won 50 to 0, not bad!!! I must say that I didn’t watch too much of the game but I did have fun playing with all of my friends and with the Battel Families duck, yes a duck…they got it at the fair.

Look at Paige and her boyfriend Grant, just hanging out together, so cute!

Jason spent the past two weeks redoing his garage, he decided to go all the way and paint it in the Tennessee Vols colours – Orange and White. It looked really nice he did a great job!

CIMG1743

Check out one of the twins, I think it is Sophia but I am not too sure, I still can’t tell them apart. They were both dressed as cheerleaders! Paige even got into the football spirit and put on my Tennessee Vols pyjamas that I got when I was her age, she looked adorable in them!

Now last night we did something I have never done before…we went to the Drive-In. We saw the movie Despicable Me and I loved it. I enjoyed the whole experience, I can’t believe we got to sit outside and in the back of our minivan and watch a movie, so neat!

CIMG1762 CIMG1767 CIMG1769

I definitely want to go to the drive in again and I think baby Paige also enjoyed it. She stayed awake for the whole movie and didn’t even cry!

This morning when we woke up we decided it was such a beautiful day that we should go on a family hike. Daddy got on his iPad and starting looking up places to go, we ended up going to the Cherokee National Forest’s Watagua Dam. It was gorgeous….we hiked, Mommy and I swam in the lake (something else I have never done before) and we found a geocache. It was a very fun day!

CIMG1774CIMG1775 CIMG1779CIMG1780CIMG1787

I told Mommy and Daddy that I would really like to find a turtle on this hike like we did last time and within just a few minutes we came across a turtle, it may not have been real but it was a turtle!!! Looks like someone lost their floatie…

CIMG1782

We may not have seen a real life turtle but we did end up seeing a duck and it swam right over to us. I think it was because I was quacking at it and trying to say Hello!

CIMG1783

When we finished our hike and swimming we went on our geocache treasure hunt. This time I got two dice that are clear and blue in colour and I left behind one of my little stuffed dog toys from McDonald’s. I really like going on these geocache treasure hunts!

Last but not least here are a few pics of Paige and I in the bath, we both love taking baths and we now get to take them together since Paige is a little bigger.

Well I better get to bed because tomorrow is my first day back at pre-school and I can’t wait. I have a new teacher, her name is Mrs. Rita and she is really nice. I also have lots of new classmates including the twins Ava and Sophia, I think we are going to have lots of fun this year.

Love y’all,

Emmie and Paige
