Life in Ottawa – Busy, Busy, Busy…

Well I know I promised to blog more frequently but time is just flying by! Life has been very busy, with Daddy starting his new job and Mommy in training for her job. We have been back and forth between Ottawa and Mississauga. Both Gigi and Auntie Carrie have been taking care of us, it has been lots of fun! Last week Auntie Carrie had us for three full days in a row while Mommy was out of town and we really like having her watch us!!!

Here we are having fun at Auntie Carrie’s house with Sophie in their backyard, the weather has been fantastic here in Ottawa.

On Canada Day weekend both Auntie Amy and Uncle Ryan came all the way from Toronto to visit us. It was a wonderful weekend. We got together with all the Weagant’s as well. On Canada Day we decided to pack up and head to Parliament Hill and try to see Prince William and Princess Catherine. There were tons of people, it was very busy but we had a great time. We saw the big snowbird jets fly right over top of us and they did a 21 canon salute when the Prince and Princess arrived, it was so neat!

We were all dressed up in Red and White and everyone got Canadian flags painted on our faces and had Poutine from a chip wagon, it was a very Happy Canada day! Auntie Amy even bought me this really cool “Silly Hat”, I saw lots of kids wearing them and I asked if she would buy me one and she did, lucky me!

Now if you look really close at the picture below at the big screen you will see Princess Catherine, she is in the red hat!

Paige was pretty tired after our long day in the sun and she fell asleep in the backpack carrier. It looks like she is still awake in the picture but she isn’t, she is sleeping with her eyes partially open, kind of creepy!

Later that night we went out to Auntie Carrie and Uncle Brodie’s house, we had a nice dinner and saw some fireworks. The fireworks were set off at a big park where a band called “Sloan” was playing, I don’t them but everyone else seemed to and there was also a midway, I got to go on a whole bunch of rides, it was a fantastic night!

The fireworks display was fantastic, we all really enjoyed it and we had great seats!

The entire weekend we had wonderful weather so Daddy and Uncle Ryan got all of our kids toys setup. They put together the swing set that Gigi and Papa bought for us and Paige and I love it. They also setup our kiddie pool and in just a few short hours the water was already warm, so we did lots of swimming! Paige and I love being outside.

All in all we had a great weekend with everyone, it was the first Canada day that both Paige and I have ever celebrated in Canada! Can’t wait for next year.

Right now Gigi is here in Ottawa with us and will be watching Paige and I all week and I am sure it will be lots of fun. On friday she took us to a play center, today we went to the Byward Market and I think on Monday we are going to go to a zoo!

Time for bed, hope everyone has a great night!

Love y’all,

Goodbye Tennessee…Welcome back Canada!

I know it has been a really long time since I have done a blog post. Things have been just a little busy…to say the least!!! As usual our move was chaotic and involved tons of help from lots of people both in Tennessee and back in Canada. We are so lucky to have such wonderful family and friends, we appreciate each and every one of you.

We are finally settled in our new home in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Gigi left this morning after spending 5 days here with us getting the last of the boxes unpacked and the house put together, now it feels like a home! I still haven’t met any kids in my neighborhood yet but I am sure I will soon. I really miss all my friends back in Tennessee. We haven’t had the chance to take many pictures over the past few weeks but we do have a bunch we took just before we moved and a few of our new house. I thought I would post what we have!!!

First things first was my end of year program for the pre-school I attended, Fordtown Academy. We practiced for months leading up to the evening and we all did a great job. Unlike last year I stood up front like a big girl, sang all my songs and smiled, no tears! It was so sad to say goodbye to my teachers and friends at school I will miss them all so much.

My teachers at Fordtown are all super nice, they even threw Paige and I a going away party. It was a beautiful day, they had a cookie cake and gifts for each of us, it was fantastic. Thanks to all of you!

Since, Canada is so far away and I probably won’t get to see many of my friends very often, Mommy agreed to let me have a sleepover with 4 of my friends; Ava, Sophia, Sadie and Kayla. We had so much fun! Mommy painted our nails and toes, we played dress up and watched movies with popcorn it was the perfect night! I miss each of them so much already….

That same weekend some of our friends hosted a “Going Away to Canada” party for us. It was so nice to get together with everyone and celebrate all the fun times we have had with all of them over the past three years. We have made some great friends and all of them will be missed so much. Thanks again for a wonderful party!

The following weekend was our big move weekend combined with a fun wedding, there was never a dull moment. We had a bunch of Daddy’s friends come by and help him load our entire house into a 26 foot moving truck and luckily it all fit! The following day we left Johnson city to head to Asheville, NC for a wedding. One of the doctor’s daddy worked with got married, it was a beautiful wedding and a fun weekend with friends!!!

We spent the whole weekend in Asheville in a cabin that we rented that accommodated a whole bunch of us. We did some hiking before the wedding and enjoyed the beautiful scenery in Asheville.

The wedding was amazing, good food, great music and dancing and fun times with all of our friends. Lucky for us too, Gigi was in town to help with the move and she was invited to come with us, we all had a great time!

It was really sad to leave Tennessee after a great weekend with friends but we would be back very soon….that is right, we drove all the way to Canada and just one week later went all the way back. Mommy and Daddy went to Ottawa while Paige and I stayed with Gigi and Papa in Mississauga. They spent a few days in Ottawa unloading the truck, along with the help of some great friends and family. When they were all done, they picked us up in Mississauga and we went back to Tennessee to celebrate Daddy’s graduation from residency. His school, ETSU, held a graduation dinner for the 5 pediatric residents, it was a wonderful night, but unfortunately we don’t have any pics, we forgot our camera….oops!

It was hard to say our final goodbye’s in Tennessee but we hope lots of our friends will come and visit us here in Canada and we definitely plan to come back for a visit as well!

Last but not least are the pics of our new house…it is a beautiful home, we have lots of space and I think we will be very happy here. The next thing to do is make new friends, wish us luck!

Here is a quick glimpse at the bathroom for Paige and I. Gigi bought us a whole new set just for us and our names are on all of the towels, it is the perfect, girly bathroom. We love it!!!

CIMG3885

We have a really nice backyard, it is almost as big as the one in Tennessee, I think we will like it!

CIMG3891

Well that is all for now, I am pooped, I think it is time for bed. I promise we will try to do a better job at taking pictures and doing blog posts. Things are still going to be a little busy but we will try! Mommy starts her new job on Monday and Daddy is still living in Tennessee till the end of the month, so once again there is lots going on.

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer!

Love y’all,

Emmie and Paige
